VOCAL lessons


Voice is my primary instrument and what I am currently studying full-time at the Queensland Conservatorium. My approach to teaching is centred around “building” each student’s voice from the ground up, using a framework informed by voice science and a blend of established, widely respected pedagogical frameworks.

In your lessons, we will cover: 

  • how to develop skills in pitch accuracy and audiation; 

  • the fundamentals of effective and efficient singing – developing awareness of alignment, balance, and breath management;

  • how phonation works and how different approaches can be used for stylistic effect;

  • strategies to improve tone and reduce tension in your voice; 

  • how to develop resonance, vocal agility, and emotional connection. 

My aim is to help you find a voice that is authentic, free, and sustainable, so that you can connect more deeply with the music you genuinely enjoy (in line with my Teaching Philosophy).

GUITAR lessons

(Beginner to intermediate)

I have been playing rhythm guitar since my early teenage years and am offering lessons using the same methods that shaped my own development as a guitarist. 

Lessons are structured to help you become a confident and capable rhythm guitarist, progressing steadily toward an intermediate–advanced level. I will teach you how to:

  • build a strong foundation on the guitar – setting yourself up properly, playing your first notes, and strumming your first chords;

  • play a range of strumming patterns and develop techniques to add variety to your playing;

  • develop coordination through fingerstyle guitar; 

  • confidently play barre chords; and

  • develop a practical understanding of music theory (e.g. harmony, altered and extended chords) and how to apply it directly to your playing .

The goal is not just technical ability, but the confidence to pick up the guitar and play music you love in a way that sounds good. Along the way, we will learn to play a variety of songs you enjoy – helping you develop your own style and a genuine enjoyment of the instrument and music generally (in line with my Teaching Philosophy). 

Once you have progressed to an intermediate-advanced level as a rhythm guitarist, I can:

  • transition into teaching you voice (my primary instrument) so you can accompany yourself better while playing; or

  • refer you to a trusted guitar teacher, who specialises in advanced soloing and lead guitar playing.
